The Map is not correct. Search the address 1053 Budapest Nyári Pál Street 11, Hungary in any map site. It is in the hearth of downtown, great place, good music and nice wine selection for a reasonable price.

I really liked it, and you can bet if I ever come back to Budapest, I’ll visit this place again. The truth is, we wandered in almost by accident to the Mini, because we read their advertisement at the hotel, and because we were staying on the Buda side and we didn’t feel like crossing over to Pest, we chose this place. It’s an unusually pleasant and interesting place, the snack go round and round on a conveyor belt in front of the guests, but the waiter comes often, too, and offers ever more delicious fresh morsels prepared back in the show kitchen. In the middle there’s a DJ counter, but when we were there, there was live music, really top notch stuff from the 30’s. The cocktails are fantastic, and the internal layout is one of the best I’ve ever seen. I recommend it to one and all, but most especially to the over-thirties, the style, the style, the music ... made with people of every age in mind.

It wasn’t a great experience, to tell the truth, we almost turned around at the door. I got rather sick of it right at the beginning because of the awful queue. My mood didn’t improve much inside, it was so crowded, and the music was even sketchier than the clientele. Really, it was the people that put me off, a motley crew, and I don’t mean that in a romantic way. I wouldn’t care that every layer of society was represented in one nightclub, however here the sweaty, unkempt dregs of society push you from place to place in their revels. Getting back to the music, well...it was just bullshit. After a worn out rock hit from the 70’s came a rap number, then some house, but even that was the lame kind. I don’t get it, but it seems people have got so undemanding, because they jumped up and down to every number as if their lives depended on it. I guess I’ve had about enough of Ötker. I don’t recommend it to anybody with any standards about the company they keep or the place they choose to do their partying.

We had a fantastic dinner in the Pomodoro! I didn’t used to come here, but since they renovated it, it’s a lot better. The think that I really liked, though, was that they preserved the authentic Italian atmosphere, which you can only in very few places. The waiters were really fast and professional - the whole thing was really friendly. Gianni, the owner, gave everybody a hardy welcome as though into his own home. He was really attentive, laughing and joking. To put it briefly, the whole thing was phenomenal. I can recommend it to everyone.

I visited this place two days ago. I was headed for the club, because I heard from several places that this is the place that every visitor to Budapest simply must see. Anyway that’s true, because I had a great evening. But I didn’t want to write about that part, just about the restaurant segment. You can tell that it’s new. The staff are still getting accustomed to the place, and there was no crowd yet, and regardless, the main profile of the Place is obviously not the restaurant, but erotic entertainment. In any case it was just that which got my curiosity up. It’s so rare for a place like this to have a state-of-the-art, fully equipped kitchen and dining area. Well you can still tell it’s new, but that’s only natural. I’d recommend a few modifications to the lounge upstairs, of course by the way of accessories, but I I bet time will take care of that. The thing that requires an explanation, though, is the quality of the food. Everything I tried was absolutely fantastic. I could taste the preparedness of the chef, and not just in the unsurpassable quality, but in the compilation of the menu, as well. The waiting staff were a bit uncertain, but they did their utmost, and they were always attentive and saw to my every wish. They’ll get the hang of it in a couple of weeks, but I really appreciate their attitude and I can’t say a word against them, really. I personally predict a great future for this little restaurant and I think, if they don’t lover their standards, it’ll be a lasting success. I can wish them the best of luck with a clear conscience, with more and more guests and challenges in the years to come!
